We apologize for being such unreliable bloggers! It has been a long time since we have updated our blog and so much has happened. We Praise the Lord for the health and growth of our nephews, Aiden and Elliott. We hear they were pumpkins for Halloween and are excited to see some new pictures! Sam and I are anticipating visits from both sets of parents in the next six months. I have been busy with long work days, lots of dental hygiene continuing education, and Holiday Menu planning! Sam's time is filled with UofL Dental Clinic excitement...he is trying so hard to get dentures done for several patients before Thanksgiving! We're hoping to do a better job of adding some short and sweet updates on a regular basis.
This last weekend was full of fun activities...
Friday night we tried on a different hat, sushi out with a 2 year-old, unfamiliar and challenging, but so worth it! We had such a good time at our favorite local sushi venue; Maido on Frankfort Ave. My co-worker and fellow Dental Hygienist Jessica and her 2 year-old nephew Jace joined us. Jace was quite fond of the soy sauce and has started referring to it as "sushi milk."
On Saturday I went to Pride & Prejudice at Actor's Theater with Kyra, Stacy, and Maggye from our Sojourn Community Group. It was lots of fun hanging out with the girls, watching a classic romance in theatre format. We capped the night off with a snack at Wick's Pizza on Bardstown Rd. Our naivete showed when we tried two venues before finding a 3rd that didn't require a cover charge to dine. Note to self: Bardstown Rd. after 10:30 is quite the party!
Brunch at 211 Clover Lane, one of our favorite restaurants, is always a special treat. Eventhough my Birthday was over two weeks ago, I felt like this was a special occasion just for me! Sam can always tell when I am enjoying my food...I start to dance. The atmosphere and food at 211 is excellent. I had my favorite, Shrimp & Grits and Sam had French Toast (of course made with a local baguette from Blue Dog). Delicious!
After brunch we headed to Locust Grove, an 18th century estate, for the Fall Market Fair and Revolutionary War reenactment. It was a gorgeous autumn day and the smell of woodsmoke made the experience that much more authentic. I get excited about spending the day outside amidst folks attired in Revolutionary Era garb, reliving a time past with as much historic accuracy as possible! What a fun hobby.
